چکیده

According to a review of the literature, it is very rare for epidermal inclusion cysts to occur in the joint. Strauchen and Strefling [4] reported a case of an epidermal inclusion cyst occurring after arthroscopic surgery in the knee joint. However, this case occurred in the knee joint. To the best of our knowledge, no cases of epidermal inclusion cysts occurring in the interphalangeal joint have been described. In the current case, the patient had a past history of trauma and developed the epidermal inclusion cyst at the site of the trauma. It can therefore be inferred that it is very unlikely for epidermal inclusion cysts to occur as congenital lesions. Based on other cases of epidermal inclusion cysts arising due to trauma, it is very likely that epidermal inclusion cysts in joints occur as a result of the squamous cells forming the epidermis being directly invaginated into the joint due to the trauma, or due to the invasion of a preexisting epidermal inclusion cyst into the joint [5]. Still, little is known about the exact pathophysiology underlying the intra-articular presence of epidermal inclusion cysts, which deserves further study. In conclusion, our case highlights the possibility that epidermal inclusion cysts might also occur, albeit rarely, in the interphalangeal joints of the fingers. Recognizing this may be essential for avoiding unnecessary operations and amputations of fingers. Finally, we propose that masses found in the fingers should undergo histopathological examination in order to ensure that epidermal inclusion cysts are Fig. 3. After six months, no evidence of recurrence was present in a simple postoperative radiograph.

A Case of Pseudoangiomatous Stromal Hyperplasia of the Breast Presenting with Chest Pain

Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia is a rare, benign, breast disease characterized by dense, collagenous proliferation of mammary stroma, forming interanastomosing capillary-like spaces. Previously reported cases presented with a palpable breast mass or continuous breast enlargement, or were unexpectedly detected on mammography or ultrasonography. However, cases presenting only with pain as ...

Rapidly Growing Bilateral Pseudoangiomatous Stromal Hyperplasia of the Breast

A tumoral pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH) that causes huge breast enlargement is very rare. Only two cases of huge tumoral PASHs have been reported in the English medical literature. We report here on a surgically confirmed case of bilateral huge tumoral PASH in a 47-year-old woman, and we present the imaging and histopathology findings. We also review the relevant medical literature.

Bilateral Diffuse Tumorous Pseudoangiomatous Stromal Hyperplasia: A Case of Bilateral Mastectomy in a 29-Year-Old Woman

Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH) is a benign breast lesion commonly encountered as an incidental microscopic finding. However, it can also manifest as a mass-forming lesion (tumorous PASH) capable of recurrence after surgical excision. Most of the previously reported cases of tumorous PASH present as a single dominant mass. Here we reported a rare case of diffuse tumorous PASH invol...

Treatment of Pseudoangiomatous Stromal Hyperplasia of the Breast: Implant-Based Reconstruction with a Vascularized Dermal Sling

Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH) of the breast is a benign mesenchymal lesion with incidental histologic findings. Surgical excision is recommended as the treatment of choice for PASH, although the recurrence rates after excision range from 15% to 22%. A 46-year-old-female presented with a six-month history of bilateral breast enlargement and painful sensation mimicking inflammatory...

Bilateral Simultaneous Pseudoangiomatous Stromal Hyperplasia of the Breasts and Axillae: Imaging Findings with Pathological and Clinical Correlation

Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH) of the breast is a pathology that is usually diagnosed by accident during pathological examination of other breast lesions. PASH is an uncommon and benign tumoral lesion of the mammary stroma that can be pathologically mistaken for other tumours, such as phyllodes, fibroadenoma, and sometimes even angiosarcoma. We report the case of a 45-year-old wom...

Multifocal Tumorous Pseudoangiomatous Stromal Hyperplasia Presenting as Asymmetric Bilateral Breast Enlargement.

PASH is a benign proliferation of stromal myofibroblasts that affects mostly premenopausal women and typically shows estrogen and progesterone receptor expression, allowing speculation regarding a hormonal cause. It usually presents as an incidental finding on a mammogram or as a palpable mass. We present a case of diffuse asymmetrical massive breast enlargement in a premenopausal woman with hi...
